Are we movie compatible?

Let’s compare lists and find out!

I’ve grouped movies into three categories: great, very good and good. Since there’s a bazillion movies out there, I’ve selected only movies made after 2000 and that are in IMDb’s Top 250.

What about the fighter? Agree with tru grit…. Time travelers wife…your movies are very boy… Your categorites should have the true heading of BOY great, BOY very good, and BOY good… Lol love you Alex!!!!

So, you bust on me for having only boy movies on a list created by a boy while two of your three movie recommendations (The Fighter and Tru Grit) are far from what I would consider girl movies. ;)

Ugh. I very much disliked City of God. Based on this, I’ve also updated my post to include movies I’ve watched but didn’t make the cut. ;)

I just watched True Grit tonight and I recommend that if you haven’t seen it. I moved your list around a little. I don’t like the Dark Knight half as much as everyone else (The writing is suspect. The Joker is more of a plot device than an actual character.) but I’ll leave it alone, lest it poison my other assertions.

Great
Ratatouille (2007)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Amélie (2001)

Very Good
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Mystic River (2003)
King’s Speech (2010)
(500) Days of Summer (2009)* It has the same rating, 8.0, as others on this list and if we’re limiting to movies after 2000, would probably be in the top 50.

Good
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

I Paid How Much To See This?
Transformers 2 (2009)
Transformers 3 (2011)
Avatar (2009)

Of all the LOTR movies, I definitely think Fellowship of the Ring was the best, so I’m down with you moving it up. Definitely not Amelie, imho, and Ratatouille wasn’t on the same level as Monsters, Inc. or Finding Nemo. So it didn’t get the bump up.

You touched on some movies I haven’t seen, so I updated the post to include the ones I haven’t watched (which met my initial filter).

Will definitely make it a priority to watch True Grit, The King’s Speech and 500 Days of Summer.

I would have classified Transformers 1 under Very Good and Transformers 2/3 and Avatar under good.

I think big fish, hotel rwanda and Galapagos are to low. I think those 3 are at least very good. Snatch.. I couldn’t understand anybody. Ha. And wall-e was just good. But other than that I think it’s pretty good list and we are overall compatible :)

For me, Big Fish and Hotel Rwanda are where they should be. Gladiator is borderline. It would be under “Very Good” but I always dread watching it whenever it comes up cause it’s so long. The replay value isn’t there for me.
